The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in the year 2008. The department offers a four year degree program in Computer Science and Engineering with an annual intake of 60 students. The department is equipped with excellent computing facilities and has highly qualified faculty, specialized in various areas. The facilities include smart classrooms, fully equipped laboratories, department library, computer facilities, classy internet facilities (8MBps), Wi-Fi facility, seminar hall etc.
Department of Computer Science and Engineering is associated with “MICROSOFT Ed-Vantage Platinum Level Campus” , which was established in the year 2012.Vision:
To empower the students to become technologically vibrant, innovative and emotionally matured and to train them to face the challenges of the quality conscious globalized world economy.

Laboratories:
The Computer Labs are artistically and ergonomically designed, where students get an opportunity to develop their skills according to the global needs and international standards. WISTM has high-end computing and network resources for the academic and research programs. The students and staff have access to software tools and systems to execute real-life projects. The institute strives to make learning more creative, interactive and information driven by using sophisticated computer techniques. The Centre would offer training and software development apart from being a support service for the faculty, students and staff.
The computer labs are fully air-conditioned and is backed up by high caliber UPS to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Laboratory is designed for use in data communication, computer networking and telecommunication courses. These labs enable students to experiment with various communication protocols and concepts using a workstation, a PC or a network of workstations. The students are able to design protocols, implement them in a simulation environment and graphically and quantitatively analyze their performance.
The Lab has an excellent collection of basic components in all ranges for conducting in all ranges for conducting practical experiments. There are 13 identical workstations with wide range of hardware and software development tools for the design and development of 8085/8086 microprocessor based applications. The lab has 8085 kits, 8086 kits and 8051 Micro Controller kits with power supplies. The lab has a good collection of add-on cards for interfacing. 5 cathode ray oscilloscope of 20 MHz range are available in the lab. Digital IC trainers of 10 BIT are also available. To work on this all the necessary digital and linear ICs are available. This lab gives a helping hand for promising students in the fast growing technology. This lab gives students the practical exposure to Assembly language programming of microprocessors, computer architecture of 8085/8086 microprocessor family, assembly program development using debugger software, use of flow charts and other aids in software development, memory and I/O interfacing circuitry for microprocessors, interrupts, serial and parallel data communications.

Mrs.N.Suneetha is the Head of Computer Science and Engineering Department in WISTM College. She pursued her M.Tech from Andhra University, B.Tech from JNTUK and currently pursuing PhD from Andhra University. She has a phenomenal teaching experience of 12 yrs and had been ratified thrice as Assistant Professor from JNTUK. Her research interests include Big Data, Machine Learning, Opinion Mining and Object Oriented Programming Languages, Data Structures, Database Management Systems, Operating Systems, Distributed Systems and Web Technologies as Teaching Interests.

Mrs.N.Suneetha had presented various papers in National, International Journals, attended diverse Seminars, Webinars, Faculty Development Programmes on the emerging technologies like Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining, Soft Computing, etc. She has organized multiple Workshops and had acquired certifications on IBM  RAD,IBM DB2, IBM RUP alongside NPTEL Certification  on “Python for Data Science(ELITE)”. Her professional memberships include Institution of Engineers(IEI), Association of Computing Machinery(ACM),International Association of Engineers(IAENG).

She had been  qualified in APSET with a good score conducted by Andhra University. Her motto is to transform  the young folk by directing them with technical abilities, to inculcate competitive spirit and  to imbibe the stream of Computer Science in them to stay ahead of their competitors in every realm of their lives.

The student team involved in this project include T. Gowtham III CSE, M Yashwanth Bharadwaj III CSE, Sai Mohan Sattari III CSE, Mohini Earle III CSE and Renuka Renduchintala IV ECE. The team was involved in a website development project for Caples Industrial Supply, Inc 446 W Currahee St., Toccoa, Ga 30577, USA through JEM Tech Solutions, Visakhapatnam. The student team were involved in a minor component of a large scale project work INR 10,00,000/-. The team had weekly interactions with the clients in the USA and could discuss their requirements, propose solutions and develop their website with least memory requirement.

Smart India Hackathon 2022 is a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem solving. In SIH 2022, the students would have the opportunity to work on challenges faced within various Ministries, Departments, Industries, PSUs and NGOs to create world class solutions for some of the top organizations including industries in the world, thus helping the Private sector hire the best minds from across the nation.

It can help to: 

• Harness creativity & expertise of students 

• Spark institute-level hackathons 

• Build funnel for ‘Startup India’ campaign 

• Crowd source solutions for improving governance and quality of life 

• Provide opportunity to citizens to provide innovative solutions to India’s daunting problems

Total 156 students of Engineering, Diploma both Computer science and Electrical Engineering branches were formed 26 teams under the categories of Software and Hardware Editions. They took different problem statements under different ministries and provided innovative solutions through different models and software Solutions. Totally 20 members from WISTM Engg college in different department were predicated as mentors and judges for this program. Our beloved principal Dr M James Stephen Was Inaugurated this Program, he provided a valuable speech to the students about way of representing their solutions and gave a motivational speech. we conducted nearly 11 hrs coding competition in two days .

In 2020, one team named conquerers got selected and  completed at nodel center Sri Krishna College of Engg,Tamil Nadu And  won The Cash Prize of Rupees 1 Lakh.

In 2019, Three  teams were participated in “SMART INDIA HACKATHON” 2019, under different ministries. they were completed in different nodel centers. Among of that 2 teams won cash prizes worth of 1Lakh and 50k Rupees.

In 2018, Four teams were participated in “SMART INDIA HACKATHON” 2018, under different ministries. they were completed in different nodel centers. Among of that 1 team won 1Lakh Cash Prize.

In 2017, Three teams were selected for  “SMART INDIA HACKATHON” under two different ministries, named Department of Biotechnology & Department of Deference Productions., completed at nodal center C V Raman College of Engineering, Bhubaneswar.

Counselling System

WISTM has specially designed a program to mould the student through an interaction with a teaching faculty periodically and help in their holistic development of personality. The counseling system comprises of one mentor to whom about 20 students are attached. Through counseling, the counselor will be able to assess the strengths and weakness through SWOT analysis and rectify the difficulties the student is facing in understanding the subject. If student is having any difficulty in understanding the subject, the student is given individual care and student is extended all help to make the student problem to be resolved to the core level.

The counselors bestow special care about the attendance of the student. If any student is absent for more than 2 days, his parents are intimated about his absence. An update of student’s attendance is informed to the parent every month. . Parents are also intimated about the student behavior and his academic performance at regular intervals. The parent can have a direct interaction with the counselors once in an academic year and know the overall progress of the student.
