Extra Curricular Activities

WISTM gives priority to Physical Education besides academic progression. Annual sports meet week is held every year in December.
The campus has 2 physical directors and dedicated 2 weekly sports hours.
Campus premises consist of Full-Size Cricket ground, 2 Volleyball courts, Throw Ball court, Badminton court, Basketball court and Kabaddi court.
The organization proudly boasts in having 1 Pro-Kabaddi and 1 Ranji players.

Popularly known as NSS, the National Service Scheme was launched in Gandhi’s Centenary year, 1969, aimed at developing student’s personality through community service. NSS, is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community linkage.
WISTM has 2 NSS units, consisting of over 120 student volunteers from all the Engineering departments. They actively participate in organizing social services as Blood Donation Camps, Swachh Bharat activities and women empowerment seminars at WISTM.
The administration and the staff at the institution encourage the students to join the NCC and the campus has few NCC candidates.

WISTM Engineering College encourages its faculty and students to actively participate in blood donation camps.
The organization associates with Rotary Club and the blood donation camps are organized on campus premises.
Also more than 100 students travelled in 2 college buses and participated in a blood camp held at Andhra University campus.

WISTM gives high priority to the cleanliness of its surroundings and campus premises.

WISTM gives high priority to its surroundings and also educates the role of an individual in conserving the nature.
The institution has initiated a program called “Me and My Plant”, where a fresher will join the campus with his/her own plant and plants it.
The purpose of the program is that in their 4 year course duration in the campus, their plants have to grow into trees and its growth should be reflected in the respective student’s academic growth.
Last year 600 plants and this year 400 plants are planted in the campus premises.

Under the guidance of Central Vigilance Commission, an awareness programme on Anticorruption is organized by WISTM in association with Hindustan Shipyard Ltd. On 25/10/2017.
The programme is presided over by delegates Mr.P.Vijayakar, I.F.S (Chief Vigilance Officer, Hindustan Shipyard Ltd.) as chief guest speaker, Mrs. Sarva Lakshmi (DGM, vigilance, Hindustan Shipyard Ltd.) and Pinagadi Panchayat President Jai Ram garu.
All the students have taken an oath not to take bribe or encourage corruption.

Under the Swachh Bharat cleanliness mission, the government of India introduced Individual Household toilets scheme for sanitation reasons. Most of the villages in India lack private toilets and the villagers have been using the remote open areas and fields for toilets. This is affecting the cleanliness of the respective vicinity, personal hygiene of the individuals, causing many health problems and is a reason for many contagious diseases. So to encourage the villagers, under the Swachh Bharat Scheme the government is funding Rs.15000 for those households who are agreeing to build a toilet. But due to lack of proper awareness, the villagers are ignoring the instructions and are not availing the opportunity. So the honorable Prime Minister of India decreed orders that the educational institutions alongside state governments should play an active role in educating the ignorant.
As a part of this initiation, WISTM Engineering College has responded to the IHHL cause and associated with Grama Panchayat Secretary. On Friday the 27th of October (2017), nearly 120 NSS unit students under the leadership of NSS Programme Officers Dr. Jaya Rao and K. Raj Kumar, have reached out to Gorapalli, a remote village in Pendurthi Mandal, where 67 out of 154 houses have ignored the RDO instructions and are reluctant to build toilets.

To extend its role in this great cause, in addition to the government subsidy, as a responsible institution, The Principal of WISTM, Dr.James Stephen has announced a bonus of Rs.1000/- benefit for each toilet to those households who take quick initiative and starts building the toilet within a week. Four households have responded to this and have received the additional financial benefit.
