A One Day Seminar on
Challenges & Oppurtunities In
Construction Projects
The Indian economy has been affected heavily due to lockdowns and restrictions put in place to contain the impact made by the COVID 19 pandemic. The construction sector which employs nearly 51 million people (the second largest employer in the country) and contributes approximately 9% of the nation’s GDP was hurt just as much or more. In commercial real estate, there is also some concern about the impact of widespread “work from home” policies adopted by Indian corporates during the lockdowns. In several well-publicized examples, mostly from the technology or services sectors, companies have embraced long-term remote wor
king policies.
The Department of Civil Engineering, WISTM has organized a Guest Lecture by Er. Sunil Nandipati, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, GIT, GITAM Deemed to be University, Visakhapatnam on 08-12-2021 for all the years of B.Tech and Diploma students .The One Day Seminar on “Challenges and Opportunities in Construction Projects” will enhance the awareness of Civil Engineering students about the various challenges they encounter in the field and plethora of opportunities that are available once they master different Civil Engineering Softwares. Er. Nandipati explained to the students about the various types of technologies, practices and methods to be adopted to optimize the life cycle cost by using Building Information Modelling (BIM). He also spoke at length about the scope the research plays in Construction Sector. As part of his lecture, he explained how the trend has changed from usage of conventional to innovative practices in Construction Industry. BIM, Telematics, Mobile Devices and Software Applications have all been in use in the construction industry for the last several years. Emerging technologies like VR and AR, Robotics, Drones Technology, 3D Printing, the Internet of Things (IoT) are all being widely
adapted in the construction industry were some of the innovative and recent trends discussed.
Er.Sunil suggested a few project/research areas related to process of BIM adoption in construction sector.212 students who attended the seminar listened to the lecture with rapt attention and finally, there was a very interactive discussion by the faculty and students with the Resource Person.

Parent-Teacher Meeting
PARENT TEACHER MEET 2023-2024:
Parent-teacher meetings are a vital component of the educational process, fostering a collaborative environment for the benefit of students’ academic and personal growth. These meetings provide an opportunity for parents and teachers to engage in open dialogue about a student’s progress, strengths, and areas needing improvement. By discussing classroom behavior, academic performance, and social interactions, parents gain valuable insights into their child’s school life, while teachers benefit from understanding the child’s background and home environment. This partnership helps to create a supportive network around the student, ensuring that both home and school work together to enhance learning outcomes and address any concerns promptly. The shared goal is to support and motivate students, helping them reach their full potential.
PARENT TEACHER MEET 2022-2023:
The Parent Teacher Meet, conducted once in the academic year 2022-2023, provides an opportunity for direct interaction between parents and the teaching faculty, allowing parents to gain insights into the overall progress of their student. During the meet, the Head of the Department will outline the measures being adopted to enhance academic performance and support the holistic development of the student’s personality. A progress report is issued, detailing the student’s academic performance in both internal and external examinations, as well as an update on attendance. Additionally, the counsellor provides feedback to the parents regarding the student’s behavior on campus.

Counseling System
WISTM has specially designed a program to mould the student through an interaction with a teaching faculty periodically and help in their holistic development of personality. The counseling system comprises of one mentor to whom about 15 students are attached. Through counseling, the counselor will be able to assess the strengths and weakness through SWOT analysis and rectify the difficulties the student is facing in understanding the subject. If student is having any difficulty in understanding the subject, the student is given individual care and student is extended all help to make the student problem to be resolved to the core level.
The counselors bestow special care about the attendance of the student. If any student is absent for more than 2 days, his parents are intimated about his absence. An update of student’s attendance is informed to the parent every month. . Parents are also intimated about the student behavior and his academic performance at regular intervals. The parent can have a direct interaction with the counselors once in an academic year and know the overall progress of the student.
